A while back, I wrote a post about how runners just get each other. You could run by a complete stranger on a snowy trail and as you make eye-contact, you nod knowingly as you pass each other. You’re out running. They’re out running. You get it. They get it. No words necessary.
Recently, I came across this ad from Mizuno and I feel like it sums up my thoughts about running so brilliantly. The part from 1:07 – 1:12 is just a perfect illustration of the camaraderie and understanding among runners. I’m not in the habit of sharing ads very often, but this one really spoke to me.
If you run, I feel like you’ll like this. If you don’t, maybe it will inspire you get out there.
Barf. Sorry, just not feeling this. I guess they make shoes and running apparel? Wouldn’t really know it from the ad. I guess they’re able to sell to people who identify with this ad, but it doesn’t strike a chord with me.
Haha. Well, perhaps I was feeling particularly emotional when I saw it. 🙂 I’m not usually one for purposely epic or tug-at-your-heartstrings sorts of ads either, but I still like this one. Training for and running the marathon gave me a completely different attitude about running and how it can change your life.
Isn’t funny when other runners who usually run at the same time that you do become “regulars”?
And then when you don’t see them for a few days you wonder whatever happened to them.
I LOVE IT! Sign me up for a marathon.
