Runners love gear and gadgets. Anything that can help with performance or safety is sure to get my attention. Recently, a friend from the Toronto running community sent me a link to a cool Kickstarter project for something called Pop-lights – the take-anywhere-and-be-seen-light.
The beauty of these lights is in their simple design. They are a small, lightweight, two-piece LED light that attaches to your clothing allowing you to take it anywhere. It’s perfect for runners or cyclists who want an easy, portable solution for being seen in the dark. It clips on any clothing in seconds and once they’re on, they won’t fall off. No annoying reflective Velcro straps, no heavy batteries to cart around, no ridiculous headlamp. Just a simple little light that clips to shorts, shirts, scarves, pants, whatever. If it’s fabric, you can add a Pop-light.
For those that may not know, Kickstarter is the world’s largest crowdfunding platform. Basically, inventors and artists post their projects – large and small – and people can donate money to the projects they like to help the creator bring them to life. Kickstarter launched in 2009 and since then, 5.8 million people have pledged $1 billion toward more than 57,000 creative projects. Pretty cool, right?
Take a look at the Pop-light Kickstarter page for more info. If you’re a runner, consider helping out the creator.
Big thanks for Patrick for the heads up on this product, and good luck to the creator Cam on reaching your goal!
